Welcome to Retro-On-Sea!

...where we love all things retro British seaside.

After a short half term break we will be back this coming week with some lovely items in the shop.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Retro-On-Sea

We have been busy sourcing some great items for this spring and summer and hope you will like them as much as we do.

We have also been busy making some of our own items out of genuine retro fabrics.

Look out for 'made with love at Retro-On-Sea'.

They are all lovely quality items - perfect for beach huts and campervans alike. Please let us know if there are particular things you would like to see us make. Any queries that you have can be sent to us through our website :

My last blog was written after spending a very cold and snowy day in Weston-Super-Mare, my home town.

I also promised that I would continue with a definate 'Weston' theme in this next blog. Whilst I was there I had a fantastic opportunity of visiting one of the town's hidden treasures....

The Lambretta Museum

Tucked away in the old part of town, it is small and compact, yet houses one of the largest collections of Lambretta scooters and memorabilia in the world!

If you are remotely a scooter enthusiast then you need to add this wonderful place to your list of places to visit.

We visited on one of the coldest days of the year - you need to give them a call first in the winter as they opened up especially for us. During the summer they are open Tuesday - Saturday between 11am-3pm. If the door is locked, there is a bell to ring and they are only a minute away!

There is a fine collection of retro posters - and a fair selection of these have been reproduced so that you can purchase them.

Mod memorabilia in the form of reproduction badges, cigarette lighters and sew on patches are all available to buy.

Quadrophenia enthusiasts will not be disappointed.

This brilliant collection contains some of the finest peices of scooter history that there are.

If you are planning a visit, the museum is located at 77 Alfred Street - just off the main 'Boulevard'. You are very near the town centre, so it is perfect to combine with a visit to the shopping area and is also a short walk from the seafront.

If you would love to visit and perhaps are just too far away then you can still visit their website at http://www.scooterproducts.com/

Alternatively they are also on facebook/Lambretta Museum.

I certainly came away feeling like I wanted a Lambretta of my own....a new wardrobe filled with some great vintage little numbers and to feel the wind in my hair on Weston seafront.

I may still be dreaming about the scooter but I did come away with the shiniest retro pink Vespa lapel badge you have ever seen.

Not a bad start....

Speak to you all soon,

Ros.

Welcome to Retro-On-Sea!

We have some more wonderful retro seaside finds in the shop this week - make us a favourite and keep yourself updated!

I hope that you are all managing to keep warm in this wintry weather. The coast and seaside can still look amazing - even in snowy weather!

My hubbie and I were wrapped up in scarves and our vintage flying jackets on Saturday as we headed to my home town of .....

Weston-Super-Mare.

The town is buzzing with tourists in the summer - but at this time of year it is lovely - just ahead of the half term and easter break, there are plenty of wide open spaces near the seafront to walk, rollerblade, jog,  or if you are my sons, skateboard!

The forecast for the day was rain - and then the snow arrived!

Out of season, I think you can still get some lovely seaside pictures... so this is my collection from Saturday !

Before too long we will turn that wintery corner and head for spring....what a great thought!

I am guessing by the number of blankets I have sold over the last few weeks that everyone is still wanting to keep warm and cosy - there have been some gorgoeus colours amongst them and we should still have more in the coming weeks.

We also have some wonderful genuine retro towels in the shop at the moment.

Retro-On-Sea recommends a good swim followed by a hot brew of tea and a chelsea bun! The sea may be a little on the cool side at the moment - so find out where your local swimming pool is!

My next blog will also be featuring somewhere very special in Weston-Super-Mare.

While we were there on Saturday we also had a great opportunity to visit the Lambretta Museum.

This is tucked away in the old part of town and if like us you love all things scooter - this is the place for you.

It is a gem of a collection and scooter heaven!

It will be a great feature in my next blog - so come back to see it!

Have a great week.

Speak to you all soon.

Ros.
